CHEAP Energy Solutions is non-profit that identifies, analyzes, and promotes practical methods for lowering energy costs and energy-related emissions. 

We approach these challenges with an engineering mindset, a focus on Rhode Island and nearby states, and decades of experience building, operating, and managing complex systems.  In general, we try things ourselves before recommending them to others.  If we lack personal, hands-on experience then we review the literature, consult with others who have such experience, go where we can see working examples, and check the math to be sure of the promised savings.

Our goal is to accelerate the deployment of solutions that will make energy truly CHEAP, by which we mean improving every one of these metrics compared to the status quo:

Clean as measured by GHG emissions and other pollutants

Healthy for the people using that energy, for the public in their immediate neighborhood, for the plants and animals living anywhere near that energy infrastructure, and for the local economy

Efficient

• physically, as measured by primary purchased joules per day or mile,
• economically, as measured by investment and operating costs, and
• practically, as measured by the time, attention and skill required of energy users

Affordable as measured by the ability of people with different incomes to benefit from that solution

Predictable

• physically, as measured by reliability and resiliency, and
• economically, as measured by the volatility of annual cost
